Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Tuesday asked the West Bengal party leadership to work towards spreading awareness about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's developmental schemes at the grassroots level in the state, a senior party leader said.

"Amitji has asked us to spread the news and benefits of PM's developmental works. He said every person... in cities and far off villages in Bengal should get the benefits of Modiji's wave of development," BJP National Secretary Rahul Sinha said on the sidelines of the party workers meeting at the ICCR here.

"He also asked the party activists to intensify the party's booth-level engagement programme in the state," Sinha said.

According to the state BJP leader, the party president met 100 victims of the Trinamool's political violence and expressed his concern about the current situation in the state.

"Amitji met the victims today and heard their grievances. He felt sorry about their situation as nowhere else in the country political violence of such magnitude is witnessed," Sinha added.
