Thiruvananthapuram: One person was killed while eight others injured when a bomb was hurled at CPI (M) – Communist Party of India (Marxist) – led Left Democratic Front’s poll victory rally in Kannur district on Kerela on Thursday last.

Alleged Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters clashed with activists of the Left, who were celebrating the party’s return to power.

Highlights:

  • CPI (M) supporters alleged that some Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS)-BJP workers came in a vehicle and hurled a country-made bomb at them.
  • The deceased was a CPI (M) supporter.
  • The LDF has won the state election, winning 91 of 140 seats.
