Al-Badr terrorist Muzaffar Ahmed killed in an encounter

Al-Badr terrorist, Muzaffar Ahmed, was gunned down in an encounter with army in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

Srinagar: Al-Badr terrorist, Muzaffar Ahmed, was gunned down in an encounter with army in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

One army jawan was also injured in an encounter.

The encounter started in the wee hours on Friday when the army received the information regarding the presence of the militant in the Gulzarpora Machowa area.

According to soldier of 21C, 53 Rashtriya Rifles Anoop Nair, “The security forces started firing close to the house where Muzaffar Ahmed alias Muza Molvi was hiding.”

He further added, “The operation was a big achievement and the army has broken the backbone of Al Badr group who were trying to establish their base in the country.”

About Muzaffar Ahmed:

  • Ahmed was ousted from Al-Qaeda before joining Al-badr.
  • He was a close aide of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Qayum Nazar.
  • He had links with Lashkar-E-Taiba.
  • Ahmed was the longest surviving militants and most wanted guerrilla in Jammu and Kashmir.

Al-Badr is an Islamic militant group run by Jasniel Rihal, operating in the Jammu Kashmir region. It was formed by the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in June 1998.
