New Delhi: Delhi's air remained in the "severe" category for the fourth consecutive day, with the air quality index (AQI) reaching 402 at 4 pm on Sunday, according to the daily bulletin of the Central Pollution Control Board. The Average Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi stood at 405 in the last 24 hours. Along with this, the air remained at a severe level in the city of NCR, Faridabad.

With the increase in wind speed from Monday, there is a possibility of improvement in the coming days, although in the next 24 hours the wind can reach the severe to very poor category. Because of this, the situation can get worse due to increase in air pollution.

Air Quality in Delhi:

According to Air Standards Association SAFAR, in the last 24 hours, 19 in Punjab, 28 in Haryana and 257 in Uttar Pradesh have recorded maximum number of incidents of stubble burning. The PM 2.5 generated from this had a negligible share in the pollution of Delhi-NCR. The level of PM10 in the air has been recorded three and a half times i.e. 350 and PM2.5 level is three and a half times i.e. 211 micrograms per cubic meter.

The forecast of the journey is that due to the increase in wind speed for two days, there can be a reduction in pollution. However, this relief is only for two days. Pollution will increase from December 1 when the mercury drops and the wind speed decreases.

According to the SAFAR report, 12565 stubble burning incidents have been recorded from 30 October to 3 November. Due to this, the share of stubble smoke in pollution was only eight percent, while the pollution at the local level was 69 percent.
