New Delhi: Air India and the airlines associated with Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) banned Shivsena MP Ravindra Gaikwad to board any of their aircrafts. The AirIndia also cancelled Gaikwad's ticket who was scheduled to fly today from Delhi to Pune, so did the Indigo, when the MP tried his luck to board a private plane.

“Air India and FIA member airlines have decided to ban this Member of Parliament from flying on all our flights with immediate effect. We believe that exemplary action should be taken in such incidents to protect employee morale and public safety,” said Ujjwal Dey, Associate Director of the Federation of Indian Airlines.

The federation of Indian Airlines includes IndiGo, Jet Airways, SpiceJet and GoAir.

The statement came a day after Gaikwad physically assaulted an Air India Staffer over a seat issue.

It may be mentioned that Gaikwad hit 25 times to an Aircraft staffer with his slipper. He also tried to throw the staffer down from the aircraft. When he was stopped from doing so, MP responded,"I already had many cases against him, one more will not be a big deal."

Refused to apologise, the Shiv Sena MP said, "There is anything to repent about’. “Kaahe ka pashchataap (what is there to repent?)."

What Sukumar, the staffer said?

  • I only asked him to deboard the flight as the cleaning staff had to continue their work.
  • They are public servants, elected by public they need to behave in a decent manner.

Sukumar also wrote complaint against the MP that stated, "God save our country if this is the culture of our politicians and MPs."

The FIA also stated that a strict action should be taken against the MP by law enforcement agencies. We believe that an assault on any one of our employees is an assault on all of us and on ordinary law abiding citizens of our country who work hard to earn a living."

The complaints have been filed with the Delhi Police.
