Air Force helicopter falls into water, accident while dropping flood relief material in Bihar
The Indian Air Force said that the Advanced Light Helicopter had to make a precautionary landing during the flood relief operation in Sitamadhi, Bihar.
A major accident took place in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on Wednesday. Here the Air Force helicopter crashed and fell into the water. However, the Air Force has called it a precautionary landing and all three personnel on board the helicopter are safe. It is being told that this helicopter crashed in Ghanshyampur, Aurai, Muzaffarpur. The helicopter was dropping flood relief material.
The Indian Air Force said that the Advanced Light Helicopter had to make a precautionary landing during the flood relief operation in Sitamadhi, Bihar. There were three personnel including two pilots on board the helicopter. However, all are safe.
The flood situation in Bihar remains serious. In fact, after heavy rains and floods in Nepal, 6,61,295 cusecs of water was released from Kosi Barrage, Veerpur on 29 September. This is the highest amount of water released since 1968. In 1968, a maximum of 7.88 lakh cusecs of water was released from this barrage. Due to this, flood crisis has arisen in many districts of Bihar and UP.
According to the State Disaster Management Department, in view of the disaster situation, dry ration packets were dropped in the water-logged villages in two districts, Sitamarhi and Darbhanga, with the help of Indian Air Force helicopters. Out of the affected population, about 2, 26,000 people have been evacuated to safer places by the district administration through State Disaster Response Force (SDRF)/National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local boats. Other relief operations are being carried out by the district administration. A total of 16 NDRF teams and 14 SDRF teams have been deployed to evacuate the flood-affected population.
Apart from this, three NDRF teams each have been called from Varanasi and Ranchi and have been given the responsibility of relief and rescue work in various districts. Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary had met Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil in Delhi a day earlier. Choudhary said that he has appealed to Patil to consider the construction of an additional barrage to prevent floods that occur every year in the areas bordering Nepal.
Chirag Paswan, chief of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Lok Sabha member from Hajipur in Bihar, spent hours in the worst-affected districts like Purnia and Saharsa and He inspected the relief work, heard people's complaints and even reprimanded officials at some places.
