Air ambulance of Medanta Hospital crashes in Bangkok, pilot dead

New Delhi: A pilot lost his life and two doctors were severely injured when an air ambulance of the Gurugram-based Medanta Hospital crash-landed in Thailand en-route to Bangkok.

The incident took place when the plane caught fire in the air leading to crash. The injured were immediately taken to the nearby hospital in Bangkok by an army helicopter, but the pilot Arunaksha Nandy, passed away while he was on his way.

Two doctors identified as Dr. Shailendra and Dr. Komal, have been admitted in an intensive care unit ICU in Bangkok.

The doctor said, "Yes, they (the doctors) have had burn injuries in the accident, but fortunately the injuries are not life-threatening."

The doctors from the Medanta hospital have been rushed to Bangkok to ensure proper treatment of the injured.

Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj expressed her grief over the incident and tweeted, "My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family."
