Agusta Westland case: SP Tyagi granted bail by Delhi court

New Delhi: In a major relief, former Indian Air Force chief Marshal (retired) SP Tyagi on Monday was granted bail in the Agusta Westland case by Delhi court.

The special CBI judge Arvind Kumar granted the bail on surety of Rs 2 lakh.

Fomer air chief, however, is directed not to leave Delhi-NCR and not to interfere with evidence.

On January 4, court will hear the plea of other two accused including Sanjeev Tyagi and Gautam Khaitan.

Earlier, Former Indian Air Force Chief, SP Tyagi was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday for his alleged role in the AgustaWestland VVIP Chopper Scam.

Gautam Khaitan, Delhi-based lawyer and Sanjeev Tyagi alias Julie Tyagi were also arrested by the CBI along with the former IAF Chief.

The CBI officials stated, “all three accused were arrested on the allegations of who accepted illegal gratification for exercising influence through corrupt and or illegal means.”

Air Chief Marshal Shashindra Pal Tyagi (SP Tyagi) is the former Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force. He had also served as the commanding officer of the Western Air Command of the Air Force.
