New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took to micro blogging website Twitter to recall two contrary incidents, the infamous 9/11 terror attacks as well as Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech in Chicago.

The premier’s tweets:

9/11 terror attacks:

The attacks of September 11 were a series of four interrelated terror assaults by Islamic terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda in the United States in 2001.

Four passenger jetliners were hijacked by 19 Al-Qaeda militants. Two of those airplanes – American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 – crashed into the World Trade Centre’s North and South towers, respectively, in New York City. Subsequently, the third hijacked aircraft – American Airlines Flight 77 – was crashed into headquarters of US Defence Department Pentagon in Arlington county of Virginia which resulted in the partial collapse of the building’s western side. The fourth airliner – United Airlines Flight 93 – was initially steered towards Washington D.C. but crashed into the Stonycreek Township field near Shanksville in Pennsylvania as its passengers were trying to overcome the hijackers.

The attacks had claimed at least 3000 lives and injured over 6000 people leaving the country in an indelible trauma.

Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago address:

The Indian Premier remembers Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda’s 1893 speech, which is considered as the latter’s most significant contribution to the world, at the first Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago.

Swami had won trillions of hearts across the globe with his speech demonstrating India’s rich culture and the power of universal brotherhood as well as harmony.
