New Delhi: The Center said on Saturday that so far bird flu (avian influenza) has been confirmed in poultry birds. In 10 states - Kerala, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

At the same time, avian influenza has been confirmed in crows, migratory birds and wild birds in 13 states of the country.

10 States confirmed the flu:

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) said in a statement that crows, migratory and wild birds in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra. Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Bihar. The department said that a campaign to free the affected areas of Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh is going on. Surveillance has been increased in areas where bird flu has been confirmed in birds other than poultry.

The statement said that the farmers, whose poultry farm birds, eggs, etc. have suffered, have been compensated by the state government as per the action plan.
