16 dead in Tamil Nadu ammunition factory blast

Tiruchirappalli: At least 16 people feared dead in an explosion in ammunition factory in Tamil Nadu here on Thursday morning.

Two bodies have been recovered, said officials. They further stated that building was collapsed following the blast.

About 22 workers were inside the factory when the mishap took place at 0745 hours.

The fire sparked near the chemical tank triggering a blast. Fire engines were rushed to the spot and fire fighting is on with rains affecting the rescue operation.
