Autism is a condition that affects social interaction and behavior, and it varies from person to person. Some people with ASD may have mild symptoms, while others may face more severe challenges. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), about 1 in every 36 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with ASD.

What does the study say about autism in children

In this study, researchers started by taking skin cells from individuals with ASD. They then reprogrammed these cells to become like stem cells, which are basic cells that can develop into any type of cell in the body, including brain cells. Using this approach, they created miniature brain models in the lab.

To understand how these tiny brains develop, the team used a technique called single-cell RNA sequencing. This allowed them to study gene activity in each individual brain cell. By examining more than 664,000 cells, they found changes in certain genes that play key roles in brain formation during the early stages of brain development.

In their earlier study, the team discovered important molecular differences between organoids created from people with and without autism. One of the important genes they identified is called FOXG1, which plays a role in the development of ASD.

The research team also saw a link between brain size and autism. This area of the brain is associated with functions such as social behavior and decision making. The team found that the imbalance in brain cells in people with autism was linked to the size of their forebrain. This may help in understanding why some individuals with autism have differences in brain structure.

What is autism?

Autism is also known as a mental illness. In this disease, the brain is not fully developed. After falling prey to this disease, the child or any person remains lost in his own world, away from the outside world. That is why some people also start considering them as retarded, but this is not so. This is just a myth. People suffering from autism are not retarded. It is definitely true that they hesitate in mixing with society.

What are the symptoms of autism?

A child suffering from autism is mentally weak. Autism can also cause epilepsy. In many cases, children also have trouble speaking and listening. When this disease reaches a dangerous level, it is known as autistic disorder. When the symptoms are less effective, it is called autism spectrum disorder.

How to identify autism in children:

  • When the child has low confidence and does not make eye contact while talking to someone. He gets nervous while doing so.
  • Such children like to stay alone most of the time. They do not like to get up or sit with anyone.
  • After being affected by this disease, children do not use their hands when they talk.
  • Such children are unable to give any kind of indication.
  • Children who like to play the same kind of game can also be affected by autism.
  • Autism patients are unable to answer anything. They also ignore what anyone says.
  • 7It is not easy for such children to accept change.
