Diabetes is a chronic disease, which has no cure. It can only be managed. After getting affected by this disease, many other diseases can also catch the body.

Nowadays, due to inactive lifestyle and poor eating habits, people of all ages are falling prey to diabetes. In this, their blood sugar level increases, which increases many types of risks. This disease can increase more after the age of 50 years. In such a situation, by this age, some of your habits should be given up immediately, so that blood sugar is maintained and problems can be avoided.

According to NIH, blood sugar level should be checked regularly. People with type 2 diabetes have to check their blood sugar level several times a day. The normal blood sugar level should be between 90 to 100 mg/dl. At the age of 50 to 60 years, the blood sugar level should be less than 90 to 130 mg/dl on an empty stomach, 140 mg/dl after eating and less than 150 mg/dl before sleeping at night.

Which habits should be left out?

1. Negligence about diet

At the age of 50, you should not be negligent about your diet. You should take full care of it. Even a slight disturbance in eating can increase the fluctuations in the blood sugar level. Therefore, take only a healthy diet. Include fresh fruits, green vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds in your diet.

2. Do not let the weight increase

There can be problems of weight gain in diabetes. Weight can also increase after 50 years. In such a situation, weight management should be done. One should not do anything that increases weight. Follow only a healthy lifestyle.

3. Do not eat sugar or sweet things

Sugar and sweet substances contain high amounts of sugar, which can increase blood sugar. Apart from this, eating processed foods can also increase blood sugar level. In such a situation, these things should be avoided.

4. Inactive lifestyle

If you are more than 50 years old and you are living an inactive lifestyle, then immediately give up this habit, otherwise blood sugar will increase. Regular exercise helps in controlling blood sugar. So exercise daily.

5. Do not take stress, get enough sleep

Stress can increase blood sugar. People above 50 years of age should adopt yoga, meditation or other measures to reduce stress. Apart from this, lack of sleep should not be allowed. People of this age must get 7-8 hours of sleep daily.
