COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 15-18; Know how to book your slot

New Delhi: Before the start of vaccination of children in January, the Union Health Ministry has informed that Bharat Biotech's Covaxin will be the only vaccine that will be given to children in the age group of 15-18 years.

The ministry also announced on Monday that health workers, frontline workers and people over 60 can receive a third 'precaution dose' 39 weeks after receiving the second dose. In fact, there was confusion about which vaccine would be given to the children. After which this information has been given by the government.

Corona vaccine for children:

The ministry has said, 'As a utmost precaution, those health workers (HCWs) and front line workers (FLWs) who have received two doses, will be given one more dose of covid-19 vaccine from January 10, 2022.

Its priority and sequencing will be based on completion of 9 months i.e. 39 weeks from the date of second dose. It has been taken in view of the increasing cases in the world and the detection of its new Omicron variants and scientific evidence.

The ministry said that while taking the decision, the suggestions of the 'Covid-19 Working Group' of the National Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI) on vaccination as well as the 'Standing Technical Scientific Committee (STSC)' of NTAGI were also taken into account. The government says that children born in 2007 and earlier will be eligible to receive the vaccine (Vaccine Available For Children in India). According to the guidelines, 'Vaccination of children of 15-18 years will be started from January 3, 2022. Only the option of covaxin has been kept for them.

How to book slot for corona vaccination:

Beneficiaries can register(vaccine registration for children) online on the CoWin portal by creating a new account from the existing account or from the mobile number. Children can also book slots using their parents' existing coWin account.

Slots for children can be booked from January 1. Students can use the nine documents already listed (related to adult vaccination). In addition, they can also use their student ID card.
