UP Bypolls: Akhilesh Yadav meets Mayawati to say 'thanks'
Lucknow: After registering spectacular win in Uttar Pradesh bypolls, the Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav reached the residence of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati apparently to say 'thank you'.
With bouquet in hand and sweets made from Lucknow's famous brand 'Chappan Bhog', Akhilesh and Mayawati met for the first time to celebrate BJP's defeat.
Both the leaders had a meeting which lasted for around 43 minutes.
It may be recalled that the BSP had decided to support the candidates of the SP in the Bypoll elections to keep Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at bay.
SP's Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel has won Phulpur Lok Sabha seat by 59,613 votes on Wednesday. From Gorakhpur, another SP candidate Pravin Kumar Nishad was elected to the Lok Sabha, defeating the BJP's Upendra Dutt Shukla by 21,881 votes.
