Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost its second consecutive match at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the latter successfully defended the 183-run target in Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Sunday.

Coming in to chase a huge target of 183 runs, SRH fell four runs short in the end as skipper Kane Williamson and Yusuf Pathan could not take the team home.

Apart from Williamson, Pathan and Shakib Al Hasan (24 off 19, 2 fours, 1 six), none of the mainstream SRH batsmen could make it to the double figures.

Williamson played a sensational inning of 84 runs off only 51 deliveries with the help of 5 fours and 5 sixes. Pathan on the other hand missed his half-century by just five runs. He got out at 45 off only 27 balls with 1 four and 4 sixes.

Ricky Bhui (0 off 5), Manish Pandey (0 off 2) and Deepak Hooda (1 off 7) failed to make a mark in the match. Rashid Khan played some big shots during the fag end of the match and scored 17 runs off 4 balls with one four and 2 sixes, but it wasn’t enough to win the match.

Deepak Chahar bowled a memorable spell picking up three wickets for only 15 runs in four overs. He also bowled a maiden over in his spell.

Shardul Thakur, Kaarn Sharma and Dwayne Bravo also picked up a wicket each but conceded too many runs. Ravindra Jaadeja went for only 28 runs in his four overs.

Earlier, Ambati Rayudu played a sensational inning to guide a struggling CSK to a winnable total of 182/3 against an upbeat SRH bowling.

Rayudu was not at all bothered by the disastrous start CSK had got as he started finding the gaps and thee sweet point of his bat very early in his inning. He scored 79 runs off only 37 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes an inning he will cherish for a long-long time. He was also named the man of the match for his splendid performance.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled three overs and went for 22 runs for 1 wicket, while Rashid Khan once again went very expensive giving away 49 runs off the four overs he bowled. He also picked up a wicket.
