Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh local body election not only attracted interest of people of the state but was almost equally popular in the Asian countries and even United States.

As per the data uploaded by the UP State Election Commission on its official website, where the election results received around 4.5 lakh hits from India, around three lakh visits came from the Asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nepal, Indonesia, Afghanistan and Myanmar.

The data released by the poll body has also claimed that their website fetched significant number of hits even from America.

The website has claimed to have been flooded with international followers that include people from neighboring countries as well as Gulf nations.

The website has claimed to have fetched 4,42,950 page views from India, while more than 1.80 lakh visits came from Asian countries. About 75,000 people checked the Uttar Pradesh local body election results came from United States of America.

Around 10,600 views came from European countries, while 1,630 came from Saudi Arab and 700 from UAE.

The Uttar Pradesh State Election Commissioner SK Agarwal had earlier said, "This is the first time ever when the poll body had uploaded all the data from nominations to results on the official website."
