Ajit Doval makes huge revelation on Kandhar Hijack

New Delhi: In a huge revelation, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has said that Pakistan spy agency ISI had its hand in 1999 Kandhar Hijack. He said that hijackers were actively supported by ISI in the hijack of Indian Airlines flight IC-814.

The big revelation by Doval was made in the new book of a senior journalist, titled, ‘'Defeat is an Orphan: How Pakistan lost the Great South Asian War'.

In the hijack, 176 passengers and 15 crew members were taken hostage by Harkat-ul-Mujahideen terrorists. Hijackers demanded the release of terrorists Maulana Masood Azhar, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and Mushtaq Zargar following which crisis were put to an end after India released the three.

Doval said that ISI men who were helping the terrorists were also comprised of former Lieutenant Colonel and a General of Pakistan. He admitted that Indian officials were getting good intelligence and were known about ISI’s hand in it.

“The ISI had removed all the pressure we were trying to put on the hijackers. Normally that is not the way hijackers talk. Normally the biggest fear is how to get out,” said Doval.

Ajit Doval said that India would have got hold of the situation, if ISI was not involved.

"The ISI had removed all the pressure we were trying to put on the hijackers,” said Doval. It could be mentioned here that Doval was the plane crisis negotiator.
