MUMBAI: Hindi cinema actress Kumkum has said goodbye to Bollywood. Kumkum, who has worked in 115 films, was 86 years old and was ill for a long time. Actress Kumkum also worked with Gurudutt and Kishore Kumar. Kumkum acted in famous films like Mother India, Kohinoor, Ujala, Ek Sapera Ek Lootera. Famous comedian and actor Naved Jaffrey has tweeted this news.

Kumkum dies at 86:

Actor Naveed Jaffrey tweeted and said- We lost another pearl. I knew him since childhood. She was a family for us. A good person. God bless your soul, Kumkum aunty.

Kumkum was born on 22 April 1934 in Sheikhpura, Bihar. His real name was Zaibunissa. His father was the Nawab of Hussainabad. Kumkum is believed to be the discovery of Guru Dutt. Gurudutt had to film the song 'Kabhi Ar Kabhi Paar Laga Tire Nazar' from his film 'Ar Paar (1954) on actor Jagdeep but later Gurudutt felt that it should be shot on a woman. It was only then that Guru Dutt portrayed this song on Kumkum.

Let us tell you, his bungalow was once called Kumkum on Linking Road in Mumbai, which was later broken into a new building there.

Lata Mangeshkar remembered her. She tweeted, "Mujhe abhi pata chala ki jaani maani abhinetri Kumkum ji ka dehaant hua. Mujhe ye sunke bahut dukh hua. Allah unko jannat naseeb karein."

Nasir Khan mourned on Kumkum's death. He tweeted, 'Yesteryear's film actress KUMKUM aunty, passed away, she was 86. She did so many films; songs & dances were picturized on her. Did so many movies opposite dad Johnny Walker. 2 most famous 1's being Pyaasa & CID. She was the female in the immortal "Ye Hai Bombay Meri Jaan" song with him. May Allah grant her Jannah.
