Veteran Actor Jagdeep aka 'Soorma Bhopali' of Sholay passes away

Mumbai: Famous Bollywood actor and comedian Jagdeep passed away. 81-year-old legend actor Jagdeep breathed his last at his Mumbai home due to problems caused by old age. Bollywood is once again in mourning due to the loss of Jagdeep who plays Soorma Bhopali in the film Sholay.

Actor and comedian Jagdeep died at his home in Mumbai at 8.40 pm on Wednesday night at the age of 81. His real name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri. Jagdeep had acted in more than 400 films. After playing the role of Soorma Bhopali in the film Sholay, he became very popular.

Apart from this, he acted in films like 'Purana Mandir', 'Andaz Apna Apna' and made the audience laugh. Not only this, he also directed a film titled Surma Bhopali. He also played the lead character in this film.

He started his film career as a child artist in 1951 with BR Chopra's film Afsana. After this, he also acted in films like Guru Dutt's Aar Paar, Do Bigha Zameen.
