Lucknow: The ‘Shorgul’ movie team including director P Singh and actor Jimmi Shergil, on Thursday, met the Director General of Police (DGP), Javeed Ahmad, to request for providing security in theatre to their upcoming movie.

The movie based on Muzzafarnagar riots has attracted many controversies in past and hence, the release dates were also delayed due to the threats received by the star cast.

Shorgul was scheduled to release on June 24, but was postponed as a Fatwa was issued against Jimmi Shergil, who is playing the lead role in the flick, by the Khamban Peer Baba Committee.

Although Additional Director General of Law and Order in Lucknow had assured complete securities to the theatres, the film was rejected to be screened by the owners of theatres.
