New Delhi: Comedian Kunal Kamra and cartoonist Rachita Taneja are in trouble now. The Supreme Court has issued contempt notices to Kunal Kamra and Rachita Taneja.
Supreme Court notice to Kunal Kamra:
The Supreme Court has asked both to reply to the notice in 6 weeks. Explain that Kunal Kamra and Rachita Taneja had allegedly used derogatory language against the judges of the Supreme Court.
One of the petitions filed against Kamra has been filed by Srirang Kataneswarkar. On November 11, Kamra made derogatory tweets when Arnab Goswami challenged the Supreme Court's decision to dismiss the anticipatory bail plea by the Bombay High Court in the year 2018 for abetment to suicide.

Notice to Cartoonist Rachita Taneja:
Significantly, on Thursday, Katneshwarkar said that all these tweets are abusive and we had sought permission from Attorney General KK Venugopal to initiate contempt proceedings in this case, which has been found. On the other hand, due to the objectionable tweet, the Attorney General also gave his approval on the petition filed to start criminal contempt proceedings against Rachita Taneja.
Explain that if contempt proceedings are to be initiated against a person, the court has to seek the consent of the Attorney General or Solicitor General under Section 15 of the Contempt Act-1971. It is not possible to take action without this.
Kunal Kamra's controversial tweet:
“My view hasn’t changed because the silence of the Supreme Court of India on matters of other’s personal liberty cannot go uncriticized. I don’t intend to retract my tweets or apologise for them. I believe they speak for themselves,” Kamra added.
