PICS: Sonu Nigam shaves head; asks Maulavi to give Rs 10 lakh reward

Mumbai: In a befitting reply to the Maulavi who had announced Rs 10 lakh cash reward to anyone shaving the singer's head, Bollywood's music veteran Sonu Nigam on Wednesday shaved off his hair before attending press conference.

Sonu's action came over the criticism he has been facing since his tweet affirming that loudspeakers during Azaan is like forced religiousness became the hottest debate on social platforms.

Clarifying his point on his tweet yet another time, Sonu said, "Azaan is important, not loudspeaker. Arti is important, not loudspeaker."

After getting his head shaved, Sonu said, "Please don’t take it as a challenge. There is no animosity. I am myself telling my Muslim brother to shave off my head."

Sonu had earlier tweeted, "Today at 2pm Aalim will come to my place, and shave my head. Keep your 10 lakhs ready Maulavi."
