Shia community files petition against Shahrukh Khan starrer Raees

A petition has been filed on Saturday against Shahrukh Khan starer upcoming film Raees for hurting the sentiments of Shia Community.

Jaunpur: A petition has been filed on Saturday against Shahrukh Khan starrer upcoming film Raees for hurting the sentiments of Shia Muslim community.

The plea was filed in Civil court of Jaunpur by advocate Sayeed Shahshah Hussain against the director Rahul Dholakia, Producer Gauri Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and the Chairman of Censor Board Pehlaz Nihlani.

The Petition:

  • The advocate has alleged that the trailer of the film contain a scene in which the Bollywood Badshah was shown jumping over 'Alam-e-Mubarak', a religious procession (juloos) of Shia community.
  • Hussain claimed that the scene shows disrespect towards the religious belief and the sacred Alam-e-Mubarak.

It may be mentioned that Raees trailer was launched on December 7. SRK in and as Raees has portrayed the role of an influential gangster cum Gujarati businessman in the film which marks the debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in Bollywood.
