Sanjay Leela Bhansali attacked in Jaipur, B-Town comes in support

Jaipur: The National award filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was slapped and allegedly assaulted by the protesters on Friday. The protesters pulled his hair, destroyed the film set and forced to stop the shooting of his upcoming movie 'Padmavati' at Jaigarh Fort.

The protesters alleged, "The film contains love scenes between Queen Padmini played by Deepika Padukone and Alauddin Khilji played by Ranveer Singh. It presents wrong facts which distort history."

Five people have been detained by police after the incident, though, no complaint was filed. According to Jaipur police, "Bhansali has decided not to shoot the film in that area."

The Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria also gave a statement that it is “natural to be angry”. He said, "Anger is natural but it should not be shown by breaking the law. People should come to the police, who will then investigate. We will now probe and find out who’s at fault and who’s not."

  • The film will be based on tyrant emperor Alauddin Khilji’s obsession with Padmavati.
  • Padmavati was the queen of Mewar.
