Salman Khan is no more an 'undertaker' of Bollywood

Mumbai: Over the years, Salman Khan has earned the reputation of the box-office king and a go to man for the filmmakers. But his recent release, Tubelight, has failed to live up to the expectations despite being an Eid release, when most of his previous movies have done mind-boggling businesses.

Tubelight, which hit the theatres on June 23, has successfully completed four days in the cinema halls and not yet touched the magical 100-crore mark. The Salman Khan starrer has so far fetched Rs 81.25 crore at the box-office, claimed the media reports. Not a single day, including Eid, it has netted Rs 30 crore.

During past few years, the Dabangg Khan's flicks including Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan have done tremendous business in India as well as abroad.

Tubelight even started slowly as it could only mint a decent Rs 20.75 crore on the opening day, followed by Rs 19.75 crore and Rs 22.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. On Monday, it fetched 18.50 crore. The film has been a decent performer at the worldwide box-office as so far it has collected approximately between Rs 20.96 crore to Rs 22.57 crore.

The film surely is going to become the superstar's 11th entry into the 100-crore club, but the kind of business it has done so far, is so much below par, considering the gigantic fan following of Bhai Jaan.

Tubelight, directed by Kabir Khan, also stars Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu, Isha Talwar, Shah Rukh Khan, Om Puri, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Yashpal Sharma in important roles.
