RIP Basu Da: Bollywood celebs pay tribute to 'Master Storyteller'

Mumbai: The year 2020 is nothing short of a nightmare for Bollywood. This year Hindi cinema has lost many of its precious gems. Now another bad news is coming in the meantime. Bollywood's famous film director Basu Chatterjee has passed away at the age of 90.

Filmmaker Ashok Pandit has given this information on twitter. Ashok Pandit tweeted that, I am very sad to inform all of you that the great filmmaker Basu Chatterjee has passed away. His funeral will be performed at 2 pm today at Santa Cruz Cream. This is a big loss for the industry. You will always remember sir.

Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee has directed films like Chhoti Baat, Rajinigandha, Baat Baat Baar, Ek Hukta Faisal and Chameli Ki Shaadi. Basu Chatterjee was 90 years old. Although the reasons behind his death have happened, no information has been received yet.

Rim jhim gire saawan will be remembered:

PM Narendra also remembered him and tweeted, 'Sad to hear of the demise of Shri Basu Chatterjee. His works are brilliant and sensitive. It touched people's hearts and represented the simple and complex emotions, as well as struggles of people. Condolences to his family and innumerable fans. Om Shanti.'

Bollywood Star Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to Basu Da and said, 'Prayers and Condolences on the passing of Basu Chatterjee .. a quiet, soft spoken, gentle human .. his films reflected the lives of middle India .. did 'MANZIL' with him .. a sad loss .. in these climes often remembered for 'rim jhim gire saawan.'

Apart from films, Basu Da also directed TV shows like Byomkesh Bakshi and Rajni. Basu Chatterjee's films were often based on middle class families.
