Aspiring model Preeti Jain gets 3-year jail for plotting to murder Madhur Bhandarkar

Mumbai: A court here on Friday announced three year sentence for model and actress Preeti Jain for plotting murder conspiracy against Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar.

Sessions judge SM Bhosale also sentenced co-accused Naresh Pardeshi and Shivram Das to three years and two years jail term respectively.

The court, however, gave four weeks time to all three accused to appeal against their conviction.

The prosecution said that Jain had in 2005 paid Rs 75000 to an aide of gangster Arun Gawli to kill director Madhur Bhandarkar.

Jain had accused Bhandarkar of raping her multiple times after promising her role in films.

A case was registered in September 2005 and Pardeshi was arrested first, followed by Jain and then Das.
