Blackbuck Poaching Case: Jodhpur court dismisses state govt's plea over actor's false affidavit

Earlier this week, Salman Khan apologised to the Jodhpur session court for mistakenly submitting a false affidavit in 2003, during his hearing in a case related to the blackbuck poaching in Jodhpur in 1998. The actor also appeared for the hearing via video conferencing. His lawyer Hastimal Saraswat told the court that Salman should be forgiven for mistakenly submitting the false affidavit back then.

Public prosecutor Bhavani Singh Bhati had then demanded that a case of misleading the court should be filed against the actor.

Jodhpur court dismisses state govt's plea

Now, according to ANI, the Jodhpur District and Sessions Court has struck down Rajasthan Government's plea over this false affidavit on Thursday. Salman's lawyer Hastimal Saraswat told the news agency, "Jodhpur District and Sessions Court dismissed both the pleas of the State Government, in a detailed order. We had replied in 2006 itself that no false affidavits were presented and such pleas are being furnished only to disturb Salman Khan."

Salman Khan Blackbuck Poaching Case:

For the unversed, Salman was arrested in 1998 for hunting two blackbucks in Kankani village near Jodhpur. While he was out on bail soon after, the actor was asked to submit his arms licence. Salman then submitted an affidavit in the court in 2003, saying that he had lost the licence. However, the court later came to know that the actor's arm licence was not lost. But had been submitted for renewal.

In 2018, Salman was sentenced to five-years imprisonment but the actor challenged this in the Jodhpur sessions court.
