Lucknow: The shade of Mirzapur 1 has not yet left the hearts of their fans and the year 2020 is all se to witness the second season!
The first season of the Amazon Prime original was a massive hit, and after announcing that the second one is already underway, today the OTT platform dropped the official teaser of the upcoming season.
“season 2 ke aane wale toofan ka ehsaas ho raha hai na? #HappyBirthdayMirzapur #Mirzapur2 @yehhaimirzapur @excelmovies @pankajtripathi (sic),” read a post on the official Instagram handle.
But, it is not just the teaser that is worth mentioning. November 16, today, happens to be Mirzapur’s one-year anniversary, as the show was originally aired on this day, last year. So, here’s wishing the show a happy birthday.
The teaser starts off with a voiceover by Pankaj Tripathi a Kaleen Bhaiya, Mirzapur’s most loved and feared character. He is heard saying, “Jo aaya hai woh jayega bhi. Bas marzi hamaari hogi,” as the camera pans over visuals of burning pyres by the river bank.
The teaser then cuts to the visual of the chair, or the throne, so to speak, that Kaleen Bhaiya sat on. The voice adds, “Mirzapur ke chahne walon, salgirah mubaarak ho.”
It ends with the information that Mirzapur is arriving next year on 2020, although it doesn’t reveal the actual release date.
Wait, there’s more. Pankaj Tripathi, who essays the role of Kaleen Bhaiya, just arrived on Instagram today. Sharing the same teaser, Pankaj Tripathi wrote, ” instagram #HappyBirthdayMirzapur #MirzapurS2 @primevideoin @yehhaimirzapur @excelmovies (sic).”
Naturally, the internet cannot keep calm! The comments section on his post was flooded with messages from Instagram users, welcoming Kaleen Bhaiya to the photo-sharing site.
Others referred to Pankaj Tripathi by the names of some other characters he’s essayed, the most popular one being that of Guruji, from another web series, the Netflix original, Sacred Games.
Mirzapur season one starred Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, Rasika Duggal and Shweta Tripathi, apart from Pankaj Tripathi.
The last scene of the ninth episode of Mirzapur showed Golu (Shweta), Guddu (Ali) and Dimpy (Harshita Gaur) escape a wedding massacre, as Munna (Divyendu Sharma) picks up a gun to shoot. The previous scene showed Vikrant’s character Bablu being killed.
The season ended on a cliffhanger, and therefore it will be interesting to see where it picks up from.
