Pak singer Rahat under ED's radar for Smuggling Foreign Currency in India
Earlier on Monday, ED had slapped a notice against the singer, alleging him of smuggling illegal foreign currency in India for three years. The notice has been served in a case that pertains to the seizure of undeclared US dollars from him at the Delhi airport in 2011.
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate, on Wednesday has issued a show-cause notice to Pakistan sufi singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for alleged violation of foreign exchange rules involving INR two crore, an official said.
"The show-cause notice has been served to Khan involving Rs 2 crore for alleged violation of foreign exchange rules," said the ED official.

Earlier on Monday, ED had slapped a notice against the singer, alleging him of smuggling illegal foreign currency in India for three years. The notice has been served in a case that pertains to the seizure of undeclared US dollars from him at the Delhi airport in 2011.
It is to be mentioned that previously, Khan was detained at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New Delhi for carrying undeclared cash of 1.24 lakhs USD (Rs 60 lakh then) in 2011.
ED has sought Rahat's response regarding smuggling of Rs 2.6 , if dissatisfied with his response, the ED can slap Khan with a 300% penalty.
If the singer fails to pay penalty, a lookout notice can be issued against him, resulting in his ban in Bollywood or forbidding him to perform anywhere in India.

The music maestro has sung many award winning songs including 'Jiya Dhadak Dhadak', 'Jag Ghoomeya', 'O Re Piya' and 'Sanu Ek Pal Chain'.
