Mumbai: Supporting the argument over banning Pakistani artistes in India, veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar on Monday said the safety of the motherland was always prime for him.

“Before everything else, I stand for my country. I cannot imagine anything beyond the nation nor do I want to,” said the 65-year-old actor while interacting with newsmen in the capital of Maharashtra.

Nana said that why Pakistani artistes, only? “Nobody should be made even part of any conversation when it comes to the country and its sovereignty. An artiste is too trivial to be chosen against the country,” he added.

It may be recalled that the controversy was raked up by Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) which had issued a threat to Pakistani artistes working in India. It was followed by Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) passing a resolution to ban them. Several film personalities had come forward to vent their views. Some of them including those of Salman Khan were not received well in the country.
