Padmavati Row: Bhansali, Deepika should be punished, says UP CM
Lucknow: Joining the anti-Padmavati bandwagon, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday asserted that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actress Deepika Padukone should be punished for hurting religious sentiments.
Talking to the media persons, Yogi said, "Bhansali and Deepika are no less guilty than those who have announced bounty on their head. No one has the right to violate the law. Action should be taken against both the parties."
"Bhansali has been playing with the sentiments of the people. This is a bad habit to have. We should respect the sentiments of everyone to ensure an amiable atmosphere in the society," he added.
It may be recalled that UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has already announced that Padmavati will not be released until the makers remove the objectionable scenes.
On the other hand, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh governments have already declared that the film will not be released in the states.
Incidentally, the filmmakers have pushed the release date of Padmavati, which was earlier scheduled to hit silver screens on December 1.
