Nishikant Kamat Dies at 50: Celebrities Mourn the demise of Filmmaker-Actor

Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat has passed away after battling liver cirrhosis. The 50-year old filmmaker had been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections.

Nishikant Kamat Dies at 50: Celebrities Mourn the demise of Filmmaker-Actor

Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat has passed away after battling liver cirrhosis. The 50-year old filmmaker had been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections. He was admitted at a city hospital in Hyderabad.

Riteish Deshmukh confirmed the same on Twitter and shared, "I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat Rest In Peace." Earlier there were unconfirmed reports of Kamat's demise, but Riteish's tweet set the record straight.

In a statement, AIG Hospital said, “Mr Nishikant Kamat (50 years, Male) was admitted to AIG Hospitals on 31st July 2020 with complaints of fever and excessive fatigue. It was diagnosed that he was suffering from liver cirrhosis for the past two years. Initially, we started antibiotics and supportive medications upon which Mr. Kamat showed improvement, but his condition soon deteriorated with progressive liver dysfunction and drowsiness. He was immediately shifted to the ICU, where his general condition gradually declined.

Nishikant Kamat:

Nishikant Kamat carved his own space in Bollywood over the years.

The filmmaker hit national spotlight when he directed the Hindi remake of Malayalam hit Drishyam, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu in 2015. He also directed Force, Rocky Handsome and Madaari. The director also appeared as an actor in Rocky Handsome, Julie 2, Bhavesh Joshi and Saatchya Aat Gharat (Marathi).

Nishikant Kamat didn’t limit himself to just films. He also dabbled in other mediums. He was the creative producer of the web series The Final Call and Rangbaaz Phirse.
