The accused, Shakti Siddheshwar Rana, worked as a janitor to Salman khan's Gorai based bungalow for over 15 years.

According to media reports, this 62 year old man had changed his identity as he was involved in a theft that happened 29 years ago in Mumbai.

"Rana and few others were arrested by the crime branch in 1990 and later released on bail. Since then, he is untraceable", said Senior Police Inspector Ninad Sawant.

A non-bailable warrant was issued by a Mumbai court against Rana following which the Unit 4 of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch had launched a manhunt to nab him but were unable to track him down.

Recently police received an information that Rana was living in a house in the Gorai Beach area for the past 20 years.

Following it, the Gorai area was scanned by officials and hundreds of people were questioned, after which officials learnt that the accused had been working at Salman Khan's bungalow for past one and half decade.

Dressed in plain clothes, officials then reached Salman Khan's bungalow where they spotted Rana.

Police started questioning him and he initially evaded questions asked by police regarding his past and the crime. However, he confessed to his crime later.

Rana told police that he had stopped attending court proceedings and shifted several places before starting to work at Salman Khan's bungalow.

After working there for several years without getting caught or identified, Rana had lowered his guard, which in turn helped police to trace him.

The crime branch, however, successfully executed their plan and arrested the 62 year old man on Wednesday.
