Lucknow: Bigg Boss is a television reality show broadcast on Colors channel and star vijay channel in India. It follows the Big Brother format, which was first developed by Endemol in the Netherlands.

Within a span of 13 years of telecast, Bigg Boss has rolled out 13 seasons (latest being season 13, airing on Colors) and one spin-off version thus establishing itself as one of the most popular reality TV series in India and is famous for its controversies.

Season 1

Kashmira Shah got into a nasty fight with Rakhi Sawant after Rakhi made personal comments on her life. After this the entire house goes against Rakhi.

Season 2

-Rahul Mahajan made headlines when he broke the rules of the show and escaped over the house by jumping over the wall.

-Raja Chaudhary and Sambhavna Seth abused each other before getting really intimate. They were also caught kissing during the show.

-Sambhavna Seth and Payal Rohatgi got into an ugly fight during one of the nominations in which Payal drags her boyfriend Rahul Mahajan into the fight as well.

Season 3

-In the third season, housemate Vindu Dara Singh was often credited as Akshay Kumar's favourite housemate after playing Kumar's sidekick in “Kambakkht Ishq” and becoming good friends with him. With being hated by fellow inmates inside the house for his conduct accompanied by the resentment against him from the audiences Vindu survived seven evictions after consecutively getting nominated from eighth week onwards. Vindu went on to win the season and was also announced the most stylish and bold contestant consequently winning a Chevrolet Cruze and Rs. 1 crore.

-Contestant Kamal Rashid Khan had caused ruckus inside the house which lead to a controversial exit by makers after he threw a bottle at Rohit Verma but later hit Shilpa Shetty's sister, Shamita Shetty.

Season 4

-TV actors Sara Khan and Ali Merchant were paid Rs.50 lakh to get married on the show. The wedding is considered forbidden in Islam, because Sara Khan and Ali Merchant were already married. Ali Merchant's mother, Salma, however, said Muslim law permitted the same couple to remarry as many times as they wished to.

-Pakistani actress Veena Malik was involved in physical relationship with Ashmit Patel.

-During the fourth season, TV actress Sara Khan objected to the Bigg Boss' behaviour towards fellow-housemate Dolly Bindra. Ever since Dolly Bindra re-entered the house, there had been quite a bit of a change in her stance and attitude towards the inmates of the house. Dolly became quite polite and got some benefits like she was made the queen immediately after she re-entered, thereby enabling her to get certain benefits that the others couldn't even dream of.

Thus, with almost everyone quite flabbergasted, Sara protested against partiality towards Dolly. Sara kept on complaining that 'Bigg Boss' was not fair at which Samir Soni, who too, had re-entered agreed with what Sara had to say. Sara was later strictly warned by the Bigg Boss and host Salman Khan regarding these vague accusations.

-Dolly Bindra got into an ugly fight with Shweta Tiwari and Sameer Soni in which Dolly left bruises on Shweta's arm and both Dolly and Sameer got physical with each other. After this Sameer and Dolly are thrown out from the house.

Season 5

-Pooja Misrra who was constantly bullied on the show was ejected. She got physical with her fellow contestant Siddarth Bhardwaj, which the makers decided to evict her. However, the TRP became really low, as the show started losing its viewership. The TRP even came at 0.69 at one point.

-Akashdeep Saigal had an ugly fight with Mahek Chahal and when Salman Khan scolded him for the fight he accused Salman of hitting him and causing him emotional hurt during his time on the show. After the show ended he again accused Salman saying that he destroyed his career.

-Pooja Misrra showed a clear sense of fury by kicking a dustbin and breaking kitchen stuff grabbing a lot of public attention. The alienated Pooja Misrra lost her temper on Shonali Nagrani. When Shonali provoked her further, asking, if she would "hit" her, Pooja hinted, she could get physical, if Shonali didn't behave herself. "Get off my back," an irritated Pooja screamed in rage; her blood boiling with anger.

Season 6

-Contestant Imam Siddiqui made a statement about host Salman Khan that Salman Khan owed him money. He also removed his clothes after a midnight fight with his co-participant Aashka Goradia.[15]

-Imam Siddiqui made nasty comments on Urvashi Dholakia and her parenting skills which caused Urvashi to break down into tears.

-Sapna Bhavnani was shown to abuse Salman Khan when she called Salman a serial women-beater on national television.

Season 7

-Armaan Kohli was arrested from the set of the show when a complaint filed by British singer-actress Sofia Hayat for allegedly assaulting her during their stay in the show.

-Kushal Tandon and Tanisha Mukherjee got into a nasty fight during a task after Tanisha pushed Kushal and Kushal body shamed and said nasty stuff to Tanisha. Kushal even climbed on the roof and escaped the house after this incident. In the weekend the host Salman Khan was caught favoring Tanisha instead of Kushal despite her unarguably violent behavior and Khan supported all of Mukherjee's wrongdoings.

-Kushal Tandon got physical with VJ Andy after Andy made nasty comments on Gauhar Khan. This causes Bigg Boss to throw Kushal out of the house.

-Armaan Kohli and Tanisha Mukherjee were shown to get very intimate on the show. They were also caught sharing the same bed and kissing multiple times on camera.

Season 8

-Karishma Tanna had a big fight with Gautam Gulati after he abused her during the Hijack task in the second week. This led to the whole house turning against Gautam.

-In November 2014, on Gautam Gulati's birthday, Diandra Soares had took him into the bathroom which lead to another controversial topic of the house. After Diandra's eviction, there was another controversial topic after reports started saying she was pregnant when she reportedly went to the hospital but later she denied all of the rumours.

-Ali Quli Mirza was trying to escape from the show by climbing up the rooftop to escape the house when he was slapped by Sonali Raut for passing inappropriate remarks.

-Puneet Issar was thrown out of the house after getting extremely violent during a task and even getting physical with co contestant Arya Babbar.

Season 9

-After Kishwar Merchant spit in Rishabh Sinha’s cup Rishabh made Kishwar walk like a dog for three hours. After this Prince Narula lashes out at Rishabh and both get into a huge ugly fight.[37]

-During the Highway task Mandana Karimi kicked Kishwar Merchant in the abdomen. After this Kishwar loses her temper and refuses to continue the task.

Season 10

-Priyanka Jagga, after creating fights in the house and saying nasty things to Lopamudra Raut and Manu Punjabi's late mother got kicked out by host Salman Khan.

-Contestant Swami Om threw his urine on co-contestants Bani and Rohan. Later, the makers of the show evicted Swami Om. He has had several exits before on the show but later came back.

-The fight between Bani J and Lopamudra Raut got ugly after the BB Call Centre Task which lead to Bani trying to strangle Lopamudra's neck.

-Rohan Mehra was nominated for the entire season after he slapped Swami Om for ruining one of the captaincy tasks.

Season 11

-Zubair Khan (evicted contestant), who attempted suicide to get out of the show was hospitalized for consuming pills after host Salman Khan blasted him for using abusive language against women of the house. He claims that Salman Khan threatened him that he would not be able to work in the industry anymore once he leaves the house. The host Salman Khan called him ‘dog' on the telecast episode.[45] Later Salman Khan apologized by saying, "I really need to apologize... I am really sorry to all the dogs of this world".

-Contestant Hina Khan created a lot of controversies within the house. She said very rude things about South Indian actresses and other TV actresses outside the house like Kishwar Merchant, Gauhar Khan, Sakshi Tanwar, and Sunny Leone. She also body shamed Shilpa Shinde and told Arshi Khan that she will get work by tearing her clothes off.

-Vikas Gupta escaped the Bigg Boss jail three times and tried to escape the house by climbing on the roof after he was constantly harassed and provoked by Shilpa Shinde.

-Priyank Sharma was thrown out of the house in the first week after he got physical with Akash Dadlani when he made homophobic comments on Vikas Gupta. He was later brought back as a wild card entrant.

Season 12

Saba Khan and Srishty Rode got into an ugly physical fight during one of the captaincy tasks. Bigg Boss bans both of them from captaincy after this.
