Mumbai: Bhojpuri singer Malini Awasthi on Wednesday gave a new angle to the controversy linked to Zaira Wasim, one of the leads in Aamir Khan starrer film Dangal.

Malini recalled the 'intolerant' remark of Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao and said that "Will she now leave the country when people are being intolerant to the daughter of the nation?"

Malini, however, had tagged the complete episode of Zaira Wasim as 'unfortunate' She said, "Zaira is too small to tackle such controversies. It is unfortunate that country's daughter had to post an apology."

Wasim, who shot to fame for her stellar performance in the movie, was unwillingly caught up in controversy over her meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the backdrop of the unrest in the Valley.

Aamir Khan and other Bollywood fraternity have extended their support to Zaira after she was trolled over the social media.
