Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has denied permission to the Sunny Leone’s show that was to be held on the eve of New Year.

The permission was denied for the show by the actress anywhere in the state following protests from Kannada outfits.

Leone’s performance in the state was opposed by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and some other organisations who had alleged that the invitation to the actress will be an ‘assault’ on the city's culture.

Rallies were taken out along with burning the effigies of the actress in the city for past one week.

Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, "I have instructed (authorities) not to allow such events. Don't bring her (Leone) here. People are opposed to the event. Let them (organisers) organise events related to Kannada culture and literature, which is our heritage.”

Then KRV workers have termed it as their victory. “We are obliged that government has cancelled the programme. Had it happened here, we would have brought activists from 20 districts to Bengaluru and held a mega protest here,” the KRV chief said.
