Significantly, Janhvi Kapoor is working with Sharan again after the success of 'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl', a biopic on Indian Air Force officer Gunjan Saxena who flew in the war zone during the 1999 Kargil War. In November 2021, Karan Johar announced the film by sharing a note on his social media handle. The note read, "A dream, followed by two hearts. Presenting 'Mr and Mrs Mahi' directed by Sharan Sharma. The film starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor will hit the theaters on October 7, 2022 .
