Lucknow: This is the age of web series. Several big shots are making their name in the web medium. There, however, are still a few who find the concept of web series very bold for them.

Dipika Kakar is one such celebs who are not comfortable doing bold scenes and has certain reservations about it. She loves playing out in her safe zone.

Dipika Kakar, who won millions of hearts with her performance as ‘Simar’ in the show titled ‘Sasural Simar Ka’, is making her comeback with a fantasy thriller ‘Qayamat Ki Raat’ and was here for the promotions of the same. She was also the contestant in dance reality shows 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' season 8 and 'Nach Baliye 8'.

The show, which also stars Karishma Tanna and Vivek Dahiya, unfolds the story of a young couple which is facing the curse of a tantrik.

Tell us something about your upcoming show ‘Qayamat Ki Raat’ and your experience doing it?

‘Qayamat Ki Raat’, which is high on emotions of romance, lust, vengeance and horror, promises to keep the audience at the edge of their seats with its plots, twists and high drama.

I am extremely excited to have chosen ‘Qayamat Ki Raat’ as my first show after my marriage. It has been my dream to work with Ekta Kapoor and I am glad that this show came my way. My character ‘Suhasini’ is an extremely loving wife. She is fearless, brutally honest and can go to any extent to save her loved ones. Her biggest asset would be her innocence and her strong will to save her family and herself from the evil.

The show will revolve around the background of the state of Uttar Pradesh. So, from which district it belongs to?

It belongs to Ramgarh.

Don’t you think these horror shows promote superstition?

It depends on one’s belief if he/she starts believing these things or not. Such shows are being served since years. I urge everybody to just take it as a mean of entertainment without establishing any belief.

How long would this ‘Qayamat Ki Raat’ go?

I guess it will have 100 episodes.

Will you be seen helping your co-actor Karishma Tanna in the horror show?

I leave the guesses to you (laughs).

How is this show different from other horror shows?

I would definitely say that the look of ‘Qayamat Ki Raat’ is completely different from other such shows as we have gone to different locations. We have shot in real jungles. Hats off to the writer; detailing in every sequence is damn good.

After entering wedlock with Shoaib Ibrahim, this is your first show. How is life going after tying the knot?

It’s great. I had to push myself to do this show because I had gone into the comfort zone of house wife. I actually loved all that making lunch for my hubby, doing time pass, shopping, etc. Thankfully, it was the first Ramzan when I was completely free otherwise in the last five years I have remained intact with the work.

How many times have you visited Lucknow?

When I was doing ‘Sasural Simar Ka’, I came here two times for the promotions. So, this is my third time.

What do you like the most in the city of Nawabs?

It would be injustice if I name a single thing. Last time, when Shoiab and I came here, we had Tundey Kebabs which were delicious. I am becoming city’s favourite and city is becoming my favourite. I make a proper list whenever I come here and wish to explore the chikan work and shop for my family.

You are set for the Bollywood debut with JP Dutta’s ‘Paltan’. Tell us something about that?

It was a wonderful experience shooting with JP sir. We have grown up watching his movies. When I wrapped up the shoot of ‘Paltan’, I came to know that I was working with JP Dutta sir. This is a very special project which I never imagined to be a part of. ‘Paltan’ is war based film and I am playing the fiancée of Gurmeet (playing an Indian Army officer).

This film is very near to my heart as I also have an army background. I understand the feeling of wives of army jawans when they were called to war fronts. It’s very relatable for me. I am sure you will like the film.

This is the age of web series. Are we going to see Dipika Kakar in it?

If I get the role of my choice then, yes definitely. I have always been very choosy about the quality and I am also little choosy about doing skin show as I am not comfortable in it. That’s why I avoid doing bold scenes and pretty happy doing TV serials where I have to wear sarees and play a bahu. Otherwise, be it any medium, I have no problem.

Do you personally believe in ghosts or supernatural powers?

I feel if they exist then remain happy in their own world (laughs).

How did your Eid go?

We did plenty of ‘dhamaal’ this Eid. I spent two days inside the kitchen where I made different dishes. The whole menu of Eid is very special. This time I made a special chat, non-veg, veg starters, proper meal etc. If one will see my kitchen, he/she would definitely assume that I am planning to open a dhaba.

Bollywood actors who inspire you?

Everybody has something very special about them. If you want to act intense then there are people like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Irrfan Khan who would definitely inspire you. Salman bhai (Salman Khan) tops the list when it is about ‘masti, pagalpan, dhamaal’ and of course Shah Rukh Khan has the copyright of romance. I really do not believe you would only be inspired by just one.

Who is your favourite Bollywood actor?

Undoubtedly, Shah Rukh Khan.

How much Eidi did you get from your hubby Shoaib Ibrahim?

I just got Re 1 from him. Shoaib Ibrahim is a miser.
