Mumbai: Known for his unique music style worldwide, music maestro, AR Rahman has turned a year older today.

Famously known as 'Mozart Of Madras', he has made India proud on International platform by winning the most prestigious award for the artists in the film Industry 'Oscar'.

Best known for his fusion of Indian classical with world music, Rahman, has won the hearts of many people not only from India but from across the globe.

He bagged four National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, 15 Filmfare Awards and 16 Filmfare Awards in South.

On his 52nd birthday, Newstrack.com brings to you some least known facts from his life, which will surely amaze you:

-Rahman was born as a Hindu and was originally called Dileep Kumar but later to turned to Islam after his fatally ill younger sister was cured by a Sufi saint Karimullah Shah Kadri. He then changed his name from Dileep Kumar to Allah Rakha Rahman.

-He always wanted to become a computer engineer. He Says 'the computer engineering world’s loss is the music world’s gain.'

-The country’s biggest musician didn’t complete his schooling; he was asked to leave school because of poor attendance at the age of 15.

-He earned Rs. 50 as his first salary for operating a record player.

-This very down-to-earth and shy person never celebrates his birthday in a grandeur way, but offers early morning prayers and visits the orphanage to celebrate his birthday peacefully.

-A street in Markham, Ontario, Canada, was named after his name, in November 2013, to honor him.

-Rahman holds 'Indian of the Year for Contribution to Popular Music' Award, in the Limca Book of Records 2007.

-He has been invited by the family of the President of the United States for dinner at the White House and had also received a Christmas card from them, in 2012.

-Rahman has three kids, two daughters and a son namely Ameen, Khatija and Rahima.

-Rahman shares his birthday with son, Ameen , that is both were born on January 6.

-He is also the first Asian to have won Two Oscars in the same year.
