New Delhi: Former Supreme Court judge , justice Markandey Katju, is in the news again. This time for daring Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) which is opposed to the release of films that have Pakistani artistes. The organisation had Karan Johar’s film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, in mind in particular because not only did he offer a role to a Pakistani actor Fawad Khan but defended his action when the country was outraged by Pak- assisted terrorists attack on Uri posts which killed 20 jawans.

Three other Hindi films -- Hindi medium, Raees and Dear Zindagi- too have Pakistani actors are targets of attack . Single screen theatres in four states have already refused to screen these films. Justice Katju is totally opposed to this kind of action and said in a tweet “MNS is showing muscle power to these helpless artistes . If you have the guts show it to me”.

One such Facebook post has already drawn Supreme Court’ attention which has invited him to appear in Kerala rape and murder case.

He is not alone in defending them. Some other film and non-film personalities have also come out in their support. Union home minister Rajnath Singh has assured Johar that the film will be released without a cut. If grapevine is believed these films have been targeted to help Shivaay a Hindi film produced by Ajay Devgn which will be released next week.
