NFDC organized a unique lockdown film festival on a digital platform wherein aspiring filmmakers got the chance to showcase their talent.

New Delhi: The unprecedented lock down in the nation has affected all the industries in equal measures. People have started taking the help of digital platforms to boost their business/works/learning, etc. Recently, NFDC organized a lockdown film festival, but on a digital platform and people admired it for its uniqueness.

National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) provided digital platform to budding artists to showcase their talent. In the testing times, where people are suffering terribly, this move by NFDC won hearts. Aspiring filmmakers came forward with their beautiful documentaries. They also showed pictures on how common people are dealing with COVID-19 situations.

Veteran filmmaker, Aparna sen (Chairperson of jury of NFDCC's lockdown film festival) says-

“I was extremely delighted at the innovativeness of the films. It was a test of creativity for the filmmakers to be able to do this within the confines of their homes. and really, I had a hard time judging the entries.”

Message by TCA Kalayani, Joint Secretary Films and MD NFDC

“These films reaffirmed that ‘creativity cannot be locked down’ no matter what. These are times for innovative opportunities and we have to look for ways to grow the industry and become more efficient. Every filmmaker wants their films to be seen. While there are free websites and Social media windows available to everyone. But, to build an audience around the film sometimes is more difficult than making the film itself.”

The jury of NFDC film festival included many big names from the industry and theatre. Names like Sharmila Tagore, Ratna Pathak Shah, Ken Ghosh and Adil Hussain, etc formed the part of jury. However, everyone appreciated the idea behind this unique film festival. Finally, It gave platform to artists in testing times.
