For example there was a time when most of the celebrities were dating or marrying dons or mafia then came a phase when they started seeing businessmen and now tying nuptial knot with cricketers is in trend.

Following the trend back then, many celebrities lost their hearts to underworld dons. Where the whole world freaks out just by their names, these Bollywood actresses actually fell for them pouring out their hearts's. They were so deeply in love with the don's that they actually risked their career. Dawood Ibrahim is one such underworld don who's name has been hooked up with not just one but many actresses.

Mandakini

Achieving fame in 1985 with the movie 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili', Mandakini acted in a few more successful films, such as 'Dance Dance', 'Kahan Hai Kanoon' and 'Pyaar Karke Dekho', but never recreated the success of her first movie. However, she mysteriously stopped signing films. Rumours had already been doing the rounds that she was dating the great underworld mafiya, Dawood Ibrahim. One of the theories put forward was that Ibrahim, who was known to have a keen interest in Bollywood and had financed movies, had pressured Rishi Kapoor into casting Mandakini, and she was his mistress. Later, it was alleged that she had moved to Dubai to be with him.

Monica Bedi

The love life of Monica Bedi and gangster Abu Salem was broadly the mouthpiece of media during their time. She was one such actress who, by taking the don's name, pressurized various directors to give her roles in their flicks. However, the duo left the country but were arrested shortly. Monica is currently acting in TV serials but Abu Salem is still under arrest.

Mamta Kulkarni

Kulkarni made her film debut with the 1992 movie 'Tirangaa'. In 1993, she starred in 'Aashiq Awara', which won her a Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year. She went on to appear in many popular films such as 'Waqt Hamara Hai', 'Krantiveer', 'Karan Arjun', 'Sabse Bada Khiladi' and 'Baazi'. In June 2016, the Thane Police named Kulkarni as one of the accused involved in supplying ephedrine for illicit manufacture of methamphetamine to a 2000 crore international drug racket and gangster, intended for trafficking. Kulkarni along with her partner Vicky(Vikram) Goswami and other co-culprits attended a meeting in an international drug ring in Kenya in January 2016.

Anita Ayub

Small time Pakistani actress Anita Ayub, was very close to Dawood Ibrahim, so much that producer Javed Siddique was shot dead some years ago by Dawood's hitmen after he refused to take Pakistani actress Anita Ayub in a Hindi film.

Sona

Sona, the look alike of 'Madhubala' fell for the maafiya Haji Mastan who was among the first don to have married a Bollywood starlet. Sona says, Mastan was a big fan of Madhubala and married Sona because of her uncanny similarity to the late actress. The movie, 'Once upon a time in Mumbai', is based on their relationship.
