New Delhi: Accelerating the entertainment industry, acting finance minister Piyush Goyal announced a single window clearance mechanism for Indian film makers.

The single window clearance was earlier available only for foreign films. Considering the huge job creating potential of the film industry, Piyush Goyal extended the single window clearance for Indian films.

The move will help in cutting down the time required by film makers to seek permissions before the commencement of shooting. Goyal also announced that anti cam-cording provision will be introduced to the Cinematography Act to fight piracy.

Interim Finance Minister reiterated the government’s earlier announcement of the reduction of GST on movie tickets. GST rates on movie tickets costing up to Rs 100 have been slashed to 12 per cent from 18 per cent, whereas tickets over Rs 100 which had 28 per cent GST rate will now bear only 18 per cent.

It is to be noted that many young stars and filmmakers from the Bollywood fraternity met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in reference to the tax policy of government on entertainment industry and to avail better policies to Indian Cinema.
