B'day Special: The Epic Love Story of Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi

New Delhi: Celebrating 76th birthday of Hindi cinema's famous lyricist Javed Akhtar on 17 January. He was born in 1945 in the city of Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) under British India. He is not only a lyricist but also an eminent poet and scriptwriter. Javed, who has been honored with Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Academy Awards, has received 5 National Awards so far.

Javed Akhtar is married to Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi. Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi's love story is quite interesting. Javed Akhtar met Shabana at her father's house. Javed often went to meet Kaifi Azmi for poems. In this way, the two slowly started talking to each other. No one came to know when this thing turned into love.

Javed left his first wife for Shabana:

Shabana's mother did not want her daughter to be married to a married man. But Shabana had fallen in love with Javed, pleading with her mother and father. After which Javed divorced his first wife Honey Irani in 1978. Here, as soon as Honey realizes that her husband no longer loves her, she tells Javed to go to Shabana.

Talking about their relationship in an interview, Honey Irani said that Javed was losing while playing cards. I told Javed, bring me a card for you. Then Javed said if the leaf turns out well then I will marry you. After this, Javed Akhtar married Honey Irani at the age of 27.
