Muhammad Yusuf Khan professionally known as Dilip Kumar is widely regarded as one of the greatest method actors of World cinema. Kumar was one of the biggest film stars of Indian cinema.
This veteran actor has been awarded with 'Padma Bhushan', 'Padma Vibhushan', 'Nishane Imityaz' and 'Dada Saheb Phalke Awards'. Not only this, there is even more, yes, Dilip kumar has managed to retain his name in the 'Guinness World Records'. He was the first one to be awarded with the Filmfare Awards for the best actor. Dileep Kumar has earned all this from only 56 films since giving his first hit in 1949.
WHY IS DILIP KUMAR KNOWN AS 'THE TRAGEDY KING'?
Dilip Kumar became depressed because of the roles he did, it is said that Dilip Kumar went into depression after playing tragic roles in films such as Devdas and his psychiatrist recommended to him to do light roles. One such role that he took up was Kohinoor.”
Dilip Kumar and Madhubala dated for seven years it was said that Dilip ji was keen to get married to Madhubala. But her father Ataullah Khan was said to be against the match as Madhubala was the only earning member of the Khan family and he didn’t want to lose her. The relationship came to an abrupt end and by the time the duo started shooting for 'Mughal-E-Azam', they were not even talking to each other.
After 'Mughal-E-Azam', the two never met again. It is said that Madhubala had expressed a desire to meet him a day before her untimely death at the age of 36 due to a heart ailment. But Dilip Kumar didn’t visit her, nor did he attend her funeral.

He marrried Saira Banu in 1966 and has always stood by him since then. She states, “I have deeply venerated my ammi (Naseem Banu) and Yusuf sahib. My love for sahib can never be measured in words. I was so much in love with him from the very start, at first sight. I have been a classic case of a woman madly in love. Our love’s forever.”
That's such an 'aww' moment right? We wish Dilip Kumar a very happy birthday and a long life on his 97th birth anniversary. He'll always stay a legend for all the generations.
