Mumbai: After doing justice with films of almost every genre, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar could be seen portraying the character of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an upcoming film.

If reports of DNA are to be believed, Khiladi Kumar has been preferred over actors like Paresh Rawal, Anupam Khwr and Victor Banerjee owing to his widespread stardom.

“The kind of reach and impact that Akshay Kumar's presence will have in a story on Modi would be far-reaching and productive," a source close to Bharatiya Janata Party is quoted as saying.

BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha also sounded same, saying, "Akshay is the Mr Clean of India. His image goes well with the image of the New Shining India."

Another big name was of chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, Pahlaj Nihlani who termed Akshay as the most suitable actor to sport the role of Indian Prime Minister due to his spotless image just like PM Modi.

“I can't think of anyone better to play our Prime Minster than Akshay. He has a spotless image of an idealist and visionary. And look at the kind of work he's doing. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Padman are the cinema of social reform that Guru Dutt and V Shantaram were associated with. Also, Akshay has risen from humble working class beginnings to become a national star, just like Modiji. We are certainly looking at a strong possibility of Akshay playing Modiji," he said.

It may be mentioned here that Akki has just wrapped up the shooting of 'Padman' and is busy in the promotions of 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. The flick which promotes government's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan', is set to hit the theatres on August 11.
