UPSC Prelims Exam: Here is everything you should know!

New Delhi:Civil Services Preliminary Examinations are being conducted by the Union Public Service Commission in the entire country on Sunday with more than 3 lakh students appearing in it.

It will be the first time when the examinees will totally have to be dependent on the E-Admit cards as the commission has decided to digitalised the process.

From this year candidates will not be issued the physical copies of the admit card and only e-cards will do the job.

The Commission has also decided to give extra time of 20 minutes to the handicapped candidates so that they can solve their paper with ease.

It is to be mentioned that the commission conducts the UPSC exams in three stages namely, Preliminary, Mains and Interview, through which the officers of Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and Indian Police Services (IPS) are selected.

General Instructions for the candidates:

What not to carry?

  • Mobile phones (even in switched off mode)
  • Calculator
  • Pager or any electronic equipment or programmable device
  • Storage media like pen drive, smart watches
  • Camera, Bluetooth devices
  • Other valuable costly items
  • Bags

Pens to be used:

Candidates will be allowed to use only black ball point pens for UPSC prelims examination.

Negative Marking:

UPSC prelims exams will have negative marking for wrong answers but not on leaving any question. So, try to attempts only those questions which you are sure of.
