UP Board exams likely in third week of Feb

Lucknow: The examinations of class 10th and 12th conducted by Uttar Pradesh Board (UP Board), arguably the biggest examination body of the world, are likely to commence between February 15 to 20, said the Board sources.

The precise dates are yet to be finalised but the printing of the answer booklets is in its last phase. The printing process is half way through, according to the sources. Over sixty lakh students are likely to appear in the exams.

UP Board's secretary Shail Yadav said that the Election Commission had asked the board to notify them about the possible dates of the beginning of the examination in the wake of the upcoming UP assembly polls, due in 2017.

He further adds, "We have informed the EC that we are planning to begin the examinations on any date from February 15 to 20. We, however, told them that this is not the final schedule as we need some more time to finalise it."

The Secretary said that the practical exams of class 10th and 12th would begin from December 22 and would be completed in two phases.

The board has also assured the EC that they are aiming to finish the examinations and declare the results before the start of UP elections.
